Spanning a wide variety of styles, beginning to advanced players learn technical skills, music theory, note-reading, playing “by ear” and improvisational techniques on Violin, Viola, Mandolin, Ukulele, Lapsteel, Guitar, Cello, Bass. MASTERS OF STRING JAZZ
Lecture – Performance – Clinic
DESCRIPTION: Using recorded samples, both analog (vinyl) and digital, and live performance, husband/wife duo, Gaines and Wagoner, will take the audience on a musical journey plotting the course of stringed instruments from their early jug-band country-blues roots through swing, bebop, post-bop, straight-ahead and Free Jazz to current fusions of jazz, rock and world musics. Q&A with the audience is encouraged following the presentation. A clinic for string players focusing on improvisational concepts and stylistic elements and techniques is also available either before or after the Masters of String Jazz presentation or as a stand-alone workshop. Self-contained—minimal setup required.

HAL LEONARD FIDDLE METHOD: BOOK 1
